Materials and Methods: Ruthenium hexamine chloride, Fullerene, C60, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), Tetraethoxysilane (TEOS, 98%), chloroform and toluene were obtained from Sigma and used as received. Ethanol (95–96%, Carlo Erba) and HCl (36%, Prolabo) were used for precursor hydrolysis and film deposition. TBAPF6 (Aldrich) was dried for 6 h in vacuum before use. Sodium nitrate was obtained from Aldrich. MCM41 was obtained from Silicycle. Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) glass substrates with resistivity of 1525 Ω/sq and ITO coating of 600-1000 Å were obtained from Sigma. X-ray powder diffraction measurements were performed with Cu-Kα radiation at 20 °C using a Philips X’Pert Diffractometer equipped with a Xcelerator detector. Nitrogen adsorptiondesorption isotherms were measured on a Micrometrics ASAP2010 volumetric absorption analyser with the sample outgased at 50 °C before measurement. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images were obtained with a Hitachi S-4500. The TEM micrographs were obtained on a TopCon 2100 FCs microscope operated at an accelerating voltage of 200 kV. X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy was performed with a Thermo Electron ESCALAB 250.
